Facts about the Indian Army that will make you respect them even more!

The Indian army is the reason why we sleep peacefully at night. We owe so much to these brave souls! But there's still so much we don't know about our men of steel. 


1.The Indian Army has about 53 cantonments and 9 army bases, spread across India


2. The government of the East India Company in Kolkata formed the Indian Army in 1776


3.The Siachen glacier [5000mt above MSL] is the highest battlefield in the world, and this field is controlled by our very own Indian Army!


4. Our country has the biggest “voluntary” army in the world.


There is a provision for forced recruitment in the constitution which has never been used because all serving and reserve personnel actually opted for serving the country!

Our army is the best in high altitude and mountain warfare


6.There are no provisions for reservations based on caste or religion.


So all those people who thought they could get through the army tests easily because of how you were born. You are wrong! The army recruits purely based on their overall merit and fitness based on stringent tests and trials. This is not very easy.

7.The rare horsed cavalry regiment.  


Our army’s horsed cavalry regiment is among the last 3 regiments in the world.

8.The Indian army has built the highest bridge in the world. 

This bridge is located in the Ladakh valley between Dras and Suru rivers in the Himalayan mountains. It is called the The Bailey Bridge and it was built in august 1982. 

9. Our army is one of the biggest contributors to the UN peace making operations 


10.Soldiers of the Indian Army are considered among the best in jungle warfare. 



We respect and thank every single soul of the Indian army for their dedication to our motherland. Take a bow Indian army!
